image NEW DELHI: In lieu of the fact that diesel amounts for 60% of under-recoveries, the government may fix a per litre subsidy on this fuel to bring predictability in expenditure. According to ET Now sources in the government, a permanent solution for the approximately Rs 1,80,000 crore under-recoveries for this fiscal is being thought of.

A per litre subsidy on diesel will imply that oil marketing companies will not be reimbursed on an ad hoc basis for the losses that they incur. Instead a compensation of fixed amount on a per litre basis would be given. The relatively fixed subsidy burden can be brought down in case global crude oil prices decline.

image We just finished NVIDIA's CES press conference where it introduced the Tegra 4 SoC and Shield mobile gaming console. Immediately following the press event we snagged some more information about Tegra 4 and the NVIDIA i500 Baseband silicon: - Tegra 4 is built on TSMC's 28nm HPm process (low power 28nm with High-K + Metal Gate) Just confirmed that our initial information was incorrect, it's 28nm HPL (28nm low power with high-k + metal gates). The difference between HPL and HPM is a optimization for leakage vs. peak performance. This helps explain the 1.9GHz max frequency for the A15s in Tegra 4. - The fifth/companion core is also a Cortex A15, but synthesized to run at lower

However, no one yet has blasted Facebook with the ferocity that Charity Engine did in a December 24 Facebook post. “Facebook is allowing click-fraud on a massive scale, letting millions of fake profiles join millions of fan pages and charging those page owners for every fake click of their FB adverts,&rdq

image The High Court has ruled that it will not review whether British intelligence agencies are passing information to the CIA to help them carry out drone strikes on suspected terrorists in Pakistan. The court has refused to judicially review whether it was lawful for one of the UK's secret agencies to provide information to the United States, which could be used to target drones.

Lord Justice Moses said that the courts could not intervene in the case - but the judgement leaves questions over whether or not the UK is playing a role in the CIA's controversial drone strikes strategy against al-Qaeda.

Drones are now a familiar part of the modern military l
