Getting into the right pre-school is never an accident… it is an outcome of the right decision at the right time. As a parent looking for a pre-school for your child, these are some important facts you need to know before choosing a pre-school :
Pre-schools are not regulated by any education board.
Each pre-school is free to set its own curriculum and choose its own teaching methods.
There are primarily 2 types of teaching methods. One of them is called Montessori, which uses a lot of tools and equipment to teach children their basics. The other is called play-way, which places a lot of emphasis on play / songs / activities to teach children. Most schools follow only one of the 2 methods of teaching.
The school premises should be safe for the use of children. It should ideally be on the ground floor (definitely not higher than the 1st floor ).
It should be spacious and airy, giving children enough room to play.
The premise should ideally have a separate bathroom for kids and a separate bathroom for teachers / support staff.
The teachers should be qualified in early child care education.
They should provide a personal and caring environment for the child to feel at home.
