New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party government under Arvind Kejriwalwill hold a crucial cabinet meeting on Monday to clear the draft of the Jan Lokpal Bill.
The Jan Lokpal Bill pushed by AAP has the office of the Chief Minister, legislators and bureaucrats under its ambit.
It also includes measures like stricter punishments if found guilty of corruption and provision of protection for whistle-blowers and witnesses.
However, the proposal to include DDA and Delhi Police is likely to be a bone of contention between the Delhi government and Union Home Ministry as the latter has the charge of the two departments.
After the Cabinet clears the draft Jan Lokpal bill, the Aam Aadmi Party government will pass the Bill in a special session at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGI) on February 16. It will then be sent to Lieutenant Governor and President for final approval.
The AAP party had promised an effective Jan Lokpal Bill while campaigning for Delhi elections and promised to pass it within 15 days after coming to power.
